ICAI ‘Self-Paced Online Module Test’ portal: The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has launched the Self-Paced Module Test (SPMT) Portal at spmt.icai.org for students who have completed the prescribed learning hours for their Self-Paced Online Modules (SPOMs). This initiative allows candidates to prepare and qualify at their own pace after registering for the Final Course. The tests are conducted daily, except on government holidays, across India and internationally. The list of test centers is available on the ICAI website.
ICAI ‘Self-Paced Online Module Test’ portal: Eligibility criteria
To be eligible for the Self-Paced Online Module Test, students must meet specific criteria related to their Final Course registration and learning hours. Candidates must have cleared the Intermediate Examination and registered for the Final Course.
After completing mandatory e-learning hours for SET A & B and their chosen elective paper(s) in SET C & D, they can appear for the Self-Paced Module Test for that subject. Registration for the Self-Paced Module Test is available at icai.org.
ICAI ‘Self-Paced Online Module Test’ portal: Exam details
Students who have fulfilled the required learning hours for SET A, B, C, and D via lms.icai.org can now register for the test using their SSP login credentials on the SPMT portal. During Final Course registration, students will also enroll for the Self-Paced Online Modules, selecting subjects under SET C and SET D without any additional fee. ICAI has provided study materials for all modules on the BoS Knowledge Portal, including physical copies for SET A & B, e-books, and video lectures by experts.
What is the exam pattern?
The Self-Paced Module Test (SPMT) will be conducted online and will consist of Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs). The structure and level of assessment differ based on the module set.
SET A & B
The test will include case scenario-based MCQs, requiring expert knowledge and assessing: Knowledge & Comprehension (K&C), Application & Analysis (A&A), Evaluation & Synthesis (E&S)
SET C & D
This test will have a mix of independent MCQs and case scenario-based MCQs, requiring working knowledge and assessing: Knowledge & Comprehension (K&C), Application & Analysis (A&A).
To pass a Self-Paced Online Module, students must secure at least 50% in that module. There are no restrictions on the number of attempts, and no negative marking. However, marks from these tests will not be included in the Final Exam results.
ICAI ‘Self-Paced Online Module Test’ portal: Examination fee
Candidates are required to pay an examination fee, which varies based on the test center location. The fee must be paid online only. However, candidates with permanent disabilities holding a valid concession card from ICAI are exempt from this fee.
- ₹500 per paper – Test centers in India
- ₹850 per paper – Centers in Kathmandu (Nepal) and Bhutan
- USD 150 per paper – Centers in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Doha, Muscat, and Kuwait
- Fee Exemption – Available for candidates with permanent disabilities with a valid ICAI concession card
