Former Australia batter David Boon is set to step down from his role as an International Cricket Council (ICC) match referee following the current Champions Trophy to take up a position on Cricket Australia‘s (CA) board from March 28.
“I’m absolutely delighted that David will bring his vast experience as a player and cricket administrator to the CA board,” CA chief Mike Baird was quoted as saying by ‘cricket.com.au’.

“David has continued to gain first-hand insights into international cricket in his role as an ICC match referee and this will be invaluable as we negotiate the game’s rapidly changing landscape,” he added.
Boon, aged 64, who currently chairs the Cricket Tasmania board, will take over from Paul Green as Tasmania’s representative in CA.
Boon has served as an ICC match referee since 2011. During his playing career, he represented Australia in 107 Test matches and 181 ODIs, amassing a total of 13,386 runs across both formats.
He was part of the Australian squad that won the 1987 World Cup held in India.
