NEW DELHI: Unbeaten India are set to take on a resilient New Zealand in the highly anticipated ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final in Dubai on Sunday. This marks the end of an eight-year wait for a new champion in the prestigious tournament.
Interestingly, India’s last appearance in a Champions Trophy final ended in heartbreak, as they fell to Pakistan in 2017, missing out on a second consecutive title.
This time, however, they have become the first team to reach three consecutive Champions Trophy finals.
India and New Zealand were drawn in the same group, with their previous encounter resulting in a 44-run win for India, who topped Group A with three straight victories.
In the semifinals, India secured their place in the final with a four-wicket win over ODI World Champions Australia, while the 2000 winners New Zealand, who finished second in Group A, cruised past South Africa with a dominant performance in Lahore.
