MG Comet Blackstorm launched, prices start at Rs 7.80 lakh with BaaS.

JSW MG Motor India has expanded its Comet EV lineup with the launch of the new Blackstorm edition. Priced at Rs 7.80 lakh, ex-showroom, the Comet Blackstorm stands as the top variant in the range. It is worth noting that this sticker price excludes the battery rental fee of Rs 2.5 per km. Bookings for the model have commenced for a nominal token amount of Rs 11,000 at MG dealerships.
The MG Comet EV lineup was first launched in India in August 2023, and the company has witnessed a 29% increase in sales in CY2024 compared to the previous year.

MG Comet Blackstorm: What’s new

The Comet EV Blackstorm joins its Blackstorm siblings in MG’s lineup, sporting an all-black exterior with red accents on the bumper, side claddings, hood badging, wheels, and fog lamp surrounds. Inside, the all-black theme continues with leatherette seats featuring red ‘Blackstorm’ embroidery. While the dashboard retains its layout, the upholstery now sports red stitching, adding a sporty contrast.

MG Comet Blackstorm: Battery, range and features

The Blackstorm edition retains the powertrain of the standard Comet EV. It is powered by a 17.3 kWh battery pack that delivers a claimed range of 230 km on a single charge. The electric motor continues to generate 42 hp and 110 Nm.
The feature list remains identical to the standard Comet EV, offering a well-equipped cabin. It gets a dual 10.25-inch screen setup, comprising a digital driver’s display and touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Other key features include a multifunctional steering wheel, LED headlights, USB ports, and electronically adjustable ORVMs. MG has also added a 4-speaker audio system.
As for safety features, it gets dual airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control (ESC), hill hold assist, a rear parking camera with sensors, a tyre pressure monitoring system, rear-wheel disc brakes, and an electronic parking brake with auto hold. Additionally, it comes with a digital key featuring a sharing function.
