Naga Chaitanya, Sai Pallavi starrer ‘Thandel’ released in theatres on February 7. The film got rave reviews and it also happened to be Chay’s biggest solo opener. The film which released in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi made Rs 11.5 crore on day 1, as a total of all languages. Of course, it’s the Telugu version which largely got it.
The film started gradually dropping and on day 7, which is Thursday, it made around Rs 1.7 crore. On Friday, uptil afternoon, the movie had made around Rs 45 lakhs. Thus, the total collection of ‘Thandel’ is Rs 49.3 crore nett in India. It can be expected that the film crosses Rs 50 crore mark at the domestic box office with the Friday night numbers coming in. Out of this, the Telugu version made Rs 47.95 crore, the Hindi version made 48 lakhs and Tamil version made Rs 42 lakhs.
Meanwhile, it has crossed Rs 70 crore worldwide and emerged as a hit because it is also not mounted on a very high budget.
Chay had spoken about the film and his chemistry with Sai Pallavi in a chat with ETimes. The duo had worked together earlier in ‘Love Story’. Talking about how different this film is, the actor had said, “It’s going to be very real. It won’t be cinematic at all. The journey in the film, the love story is beautiful.”
He further added, “Genuine love has a lot of pain in it. When you live through this pain and come out of it, it bonds the relationship in a very different manner. So, you will go through this whole journey in the film.”
